Merry Giving with the Help of our 3D Printer
Teachers were finding they continually misplaced the small Apple TV remote so of course our Tech Team Members came to the rescue with the design and printing of an Apple TV Remote Control Holder. Several students created designs and the most functional design, created by 8th grade member, William Weber was printed and delivered to classrooms and offices with an Apple TV. A total of 16 remotes were printed in total and now our teachers are happy they always know where to find their remote control!

Verizon App Challenge:
In November, five Tech Team members in grades 6 and 7 participated in the Verizon App Challenge. The app challenge, part of Verizon Innovative Learning, is a nationwide contest in which middle and high school students are challenged to develop concepts for mobile apps that solve a problem in their community. It’s a unique, hands-on activity that teaches collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving, and entrepreneurship, as well as STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) skills and coding. It builds on students’ excitement about technology and aims to equip them with skills they need to succeed in the jobs of the future.
Our App Concept:
This year in an effort to demonstrate and better exemplify sustainability, our school began a composting program in the Student Dining Room. Our members developed an app concept to promote the idea of sustainability and encourage the preservation of our Earth in a fun game. Their app concept was to teach kids (and maybe even adults) how to create, or participate in a community composting and trash line. For more information, watch the video below.
